H&H Land & Estates, one of the North of England’s leading firms of chartered surveyors, has announced the promotion of Thomas Armstrong to director.

Thomas has been with the company for ten years and has been associate director for the past four. Working from H&H Land & Estates' Carlisle and Penrith offices, Thomas will lead and be responsible for managing and supporting the company’s operations team.

Brought up on a small hill farm in Milburn, near Penrith, Cumbria, and remaining actively involved in the day-to-day running of the farm, Thomas graduated from Harper Adams University in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) in Rural Enterprise and Land Management and his career grew from there, with his appointment to director coming in less than a decade.

Thomas said: “As a business, H&H Land & Estates is clearly focussed on expansion and growth so we can support the next generation of farmers with our portfolio of services. This is an area I am very passionate about as we need to ensure that farmers, the wider rural communities and business are aware of the opportunities available which will help to future-proof their businesses.”

H&H Land & Estates is one of the largest firms of independent rural property advisors operating across the North of England. With nine offices, they are best placed to provide local knowledge while having a national presence. Its land agency department advises rural businesses and the agricultural sector at all levels, with services including farm business advice, estate management, farm sales, landlord and tenant matters, utility work, land management and development.

Colin Tomlinson, managing director of H&H Land & Estates, said: “Thomas started his career with us as a graduate surveyor during his placement year and we are thrilled to promote him to director. Thomas is truly deserving of this promotion, and during his time with the company his support has been instrumental to the company’s ongoing growth and his vision has been integral to our recent rebranding.

“As a farmer himself, he has an in-depth understating of the challenges currently being faced by the agricultural and rural sectors and as such has a great passion for ensuring that our team of professionals provide the necessary specialist support at the appropriate times to help businesses maximise opportunities.”

In his new role, Thomas has his eye firmly focused on progressing and further developing H&H Land & Estates presence through its network of offices.
