NORTHALLERTON Auction Mart is warning those intending to attend its auction on Wednesday, September 25 to arrive early to avoid getting stuck in road closures ahead of the UCI cycling championships.

Company secretary Brian Weighell said while it was not ideal to have the event in Northallerton on a Wednesday due to the weekly market in the High Street having to be cancelled, the mart has been supported by Hambleton District Council and race organisers.

He said: "We have met the council and organisers twice, and concessions have been made to get articulated lorries out when possible.

"We want to let our customers know that they should arrive with livestock before 11am so they don't get stuck in the road blocks.

"It will impact on us a bit but we will just have to work round it and hopefully it will not cause too many problems. There might be some delays for customers and farmers leaving as the roads will be closed from 12.20pm until 3pm."

Road closures with passing places for vehicles will be in place from 11am until 12.30 from Northallerton to Bedale along the A684. A full closure of that road will be in place from 12.30pm until 3pm, followed by closures with passing places until 3.45pm.
