A NEW food hall is opening today at a revamped leisure complex in Durham.
The Food Pit, at The Riverwalk, was officially opened last night with a special launch event.
The venue is fully let with seven food and drink outlets, which aim to showcase the best of the North-East's street food scene.
It aims to give diners the opportunity to sample a wide range of food in a single sitting, with vendors offering dishes ranging from traditional fish and chips to burgers and waffles.
Companies lined up include Gourmet Burgers, Fish & Chips, Mano Thai, Durham Sausage Company, Bojangles coffee shop, Spread of the Med and Mr Waffle.
Nick Berry, partner at Clearbell Capital, which is behind the redevelopment at The Riverwalk, said: "The Food Pit will introduce the increasingly popular street food concept to the heart of The Riverwalk, bringing a new destination to the city in time for Christmas and New Year.
“The fantastic line up of eateries will complement each other whilst providing visitors with a variety of cuisines to choose from – or mix up – the choice is yours!"
