A PEDIGREE Beef Shorthorn bull from North Yorkshire sold for 20,000gns at the Stirling Bull Sales on Monday.
Rookwith Marvellous was owned and bred by Ed Page of the Rookwith Herd, Bedale. It was the first time the herd had presented cattle for sale at the famous sales and the price achieved was joint top with another animal at the sale.
Marvellous was shown and presented by stockman Martin & Heather Grayshon who work for Mr Page. In the pre-sale show he was reserve intermediate champion out of more than 80 bulls from across the country.
Marvellous was bred from Chapelton Waterloo and sired by Castlemount Junior, the bull bought by Mr Page at the Stirling Bull Sales back in 2017. He is the first progeny to be offered for sale from this breeding.
Mr Page said he was "absolutely thrilled with the result and glad to see Marvellous sell to a good home where I am sure he will do well".
The purchaser on the day was pedigree breeder Thomas Staunton, Lough Curra, Co Galway, who will share him with fellow breeder Robert Leach, Northampton.
