HEALTH and safety will be under the spotlight at a top dairy event next month.

H&H Safety, a health and safety support service for farm and rural businesses, has introduced H&H Safety Farm Zone at Borderway UK Dairy Expo 2020 at the Borderway Exhibition Centre, Carlisle, on Saturday, March 14.

Farmers visiting the expo will have the opportunity to assess and improve their own on-farm safety through a timetable of talks and demonstrations held in the H&H Safety Farm Zone.

This inaugural showcase will address several key themes relating to improving farm safety and covering animal handling, equipment security, risk management tools, accident prevention, First Aid for farmers and farm support.

Paul Graham, managing director of H&H Insurance Brokers, said: “By raising awareness around some key issues, H&H Safety hopes to provide a positive health and safety message whilst giving visitors advice and signposting to services they can trust.”

The H&H Safety Farm Zone will be specially branded within the pen area and will include a series of specialist presentations by industry experts on a variety of farm-related health and safety subjects. Farmers visiting will have the opportunity to assess and improve their own on-farm safety through the timetable of key themes, which will include:

10.30am Safe use of machinery - Neil Elsender, managing director, IRM Safety

11.30am Safe animal handling best practice - Fraser Cormack, cattle turnover crate demonstration

12.30pm The importance of formal safety training - Richard Hunter, lecturer, Newton Rigg

13.30pm Coping with an accident emergency before the air ambulance arrives - First Aid plus speciality training, First Aid demonstration

14.30pm Importance of protective clothing + Celox - Toni Murch, specialist paramedic, Carrs Billington

15.30pm When accidents happen: RABI’s support in a crisis - Georgina Lamb, RABI.
