Roger Nicholson's Cannon Hall Dutch Spotted flock from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, continued on its winning ways at a breed show and sale at Welshpool, selling his champion winner for the top price of 10,000gns.

Following on from the flock's 16,000gns sale at Carlisle for Cannon Hall Faye, her ET sister, Cannon Hall Florence, a daughter of Drumhirk Decider out of an imported ewe sold to Henry Jewitt, buying for the Sunnybank flock from Barnard Castle, Co Durham.

Next best at 4200gns was the top priced ewe lamb, Merryboro Guess Girl, an ET-bred daughter of Merryboro Essential from Pembrokeshire-based Tom and Louise Nash. Bred from Merryboro Emerald, she was the pick of Darren Mattia, Hereford, buying for his How Caple flock.

The couple also sold received 2800gns for Merryboro Felicity, a gimmer by Merryboro Cracker, out of an imported female. She was knocked down to Sebastia Ghiorghita, Wellingborough, Northants.

Best amongst the females for Dumfries-based Alastair Jackson’s Tiptop flock was 2200gns for the gimmer, Tiptop Fidler. With imported breeding on both sides, she was knocked down to Andrew Hughes, Bodorgan, Gwynedd.

Mr Jackson sold the top two highest priced rams at 3200gns and 2800gns. Dearest was male and reserve overall champion, Tiptop Gadzooks, a lamb by the imported sire Royal Dutch, out of the Tiptop Charlie daughter, Tiptop Dazling Spirit. He sold to the judge, Jack Simpson, Hope Valley, Derbyshire.

Selling for 2800gns was Tiptop Fearless Flames an ET-bred son of imported sire, Sea The Stars out of the imported female, Beach. The buyer was Gareth Hempton, Omagh, Co Tyrone.
