A man has been jailed after stealing a quad bike.
Cumbria Police Rural Crime Team successfully recovered the stolen vehicle and had the offender arrested within two hours of the offence taking place.
A quadbike was stolen from an area near Kendal around 12:30pm on Thursday October 17.
Just two hours later, Cumbrian officers had arrested two people, one in the Durham area and one in North Yorkshire.
By 2:30pm the stolen quadbike had been recovered and a further vehicle seized for suspected use in crime.
One of the offenders has been sent to prison.
Michael Broomfield, 38, of Cheviot Walk, Coundon, Bishop Auckland, was charged and remanded for burglary on Friday.
He pleaded guilty to burglary at Barrow Court and was sentenced to six months in prison.
Compensation was also awarded to the victim.
A 35-year-old female, also from Bishop Auckland, has been released on police bail.
The rural crime team said: "We regularly work with colleagues from bordering forces, both sharing intelligence and pooling resources to target our shared offenders.
"This incident saw significant coordination internally also, simultaneously intercepting both suspects some 50 miles plus from the scene.
"Special credit goes to colleagues from Operational Support, Response, Intelligence, Control Room and Custody Investigation Team who we worked with to secure this conviction.
"We are also grateful to the members of the public and rural WhatsApp groups for their assistance.
"We fully understand the impact of rural burglaries on the victims and the concerns held by the rural communities and we will continue to work tirelessly to make Cumbria and the region a hostile place for travelling criminality.
"We also want to take this opportunity to reiterate the importance of having trackers on quad and ATVs in addition to security measures to protect your property."
