Residents of one County Durham housing estate were left shocked when they woke up to find a loose sheep wandering about the road.

One sheep ended up wandering along Bamburgh Drive in Seaham on Sunday morning (November 3).

It is believed to have escaped from a smallholding.

Residents managed to corner the runaway and appealed on social media to help locate its owner.

Luckily, its owner came along and collected the sheep which is now safe and sound back with its flock.

One resident said: “I had to do a double take when I opened the blinds. It was just staring at me.

“Everyone in the street was out. It was hilarious. Thankfully it was rounded up and didn’t seem too concerned."
